Reborn Sepharad

In 2015, the Spanish government took a historic step by granting citizenship to Jews with Spanish roots. This gesture leads us to reflect on the unique role this community has played over the centuries. What made the Jews so special in the history of Spain? What is their cultural contribution that is still evident today? How is their influence manifested in modern Spain? And particularly, what does the Jewish community in Barcelona look like today?

It is impossible to fully understand the history of Spain, and especially of Barcelona, without recognizing the important legacy left by the Jews who once thrived and were later exiled. Through a stroll through the picturesque alleys of the old city, we will discover the connections linking the Jewish community from medieval Spain to the present day, thus revealing its lasting influence on Spanish society.

I invite you to touch a piece of living history and hear the story of the Jewish community in Spain’s Golden Age.
