Rafael Azran

my story

Welcome to the enchanting world of Barcelona! I’m Rafael, your entertaining tour guide with a flair for storytelling, a background in acting, a passion for cooking, and a love for Spain that led me to become a dedicated guide in this vibrant city since 2015.

Embarking on a journey through the streets of Barcelona is not just a tour with me; it’s an experience infused with art, history, and culinary delights. Having graduated in acting in the early 2000s, my life took a dramatic turn in 2013 when I decided to specialize in theater in Barcelona. Little did I know that this city would capture my heart, and soon after, I found myself immersed in the world of tourism, a realm that suited me perfectly.

As a writer, I’ve penned a play and four poetry books (in Hebrew). While I was once a cook in Tel Aviv, here in Barcelona, I’ve crafted a unique concept of culinary-musical events that unfold in my charming home in the Gracia neighborhood.

So, what to expect from a tour with Rafaelos?

After years of honing my skills in the tourism industry, I’ve discovered that small, private groups provide the ideal canvas for my expertise. My tours are not just informative; they’re an intimate exploration of Barcelona, with a touch of theater and a bit of humor. As a writer, I blend history with the story of Spain, and as a cook, I tailor the culinary tour to highlight the most authentic places. My mantra is simple: “Be a tourist and feel local.” Beyond delving into the fascinating history of each place, I am committed to showcasing the authentic Barcelona – the one that transcends the virtual world, the one absent from guidebooks. During our time together, I’ll share anecdotes about local identity, the social fabric, Spanish rhythms, and, of course, offer a variety of culinary recommendations.

"Be a tourist and feel like a local"

Along with the in-depth explanations about the fascinating history of the place, it is also important for me to present the authentic singular Barcelona experience, the one that cannot be absorbed through the network, the one that you will not find in any travel guide. In my guidance, I often interweave anecdotes about the local identity, the social fabric, the Spanish pace, contemporary politics and of course a host of recommendations on the Barcelona cuisine.

Who are my tours designed for?

Under my umbrella, Barcelona reveals itself to those seeking a one-of-a-kind experience - for travelers who wish to explore, taste, learn, witness, and savor stories. Whether you are part of a group, a family, a loving couple, or just good friends who gathered into one family unit and are looking for a guide to introduce them to the city. Even if you've wandered Barcelona's streets before, I guarantee you'll discover new facets and hidden gems. Come, let me be your guide to Barcelona's soulful secrets and treasures!
